Introduction

Great that you have chosen to study Economics and Business Economics at the Utrecht University School of economics. We have planned a great week full of fun activities. We hope you really enjoy your week!

Introduction Committee 2010

The committee and its members

Of course the introduction committee is the most exciting committee of all the committees which exist within ECU’92. Who doesn’t want to be responsible of organizing a week full of fun activities and parties?!  It takes some time and effort to organize everything, but in the end the success of the introduction week makes it all worthwhile.

This year the committee consists of six members. First of all we have Jorrit Hendriksma who has the difficult task being a part-time secretary, coordinator coaches and coordinator introduction weekend. Because this is a lot of work to do on his own he gets good assistance from Duncan Waardenburg, who is responsible for the same tasks as Jorrit. Then we have Elena Jacobs our most treasured treasurer, and occasional secretary when the boys are tired. Next there is Stephanie van Ginhoven whose excellence is writing. Therefore we made her the coordinator for the scenario book, and since she writes so well she sometimes also get the lovely tasks of making the minutes (when Elena, Duncan ánd Jorrit are tired of it). After that we have Joey Cairo, our coordinator from the board of ECU’92. Actually he doesn’t need to do that many things, he just checks whether we work really hard in organizing the whole week. Finally there is me, Loura Vlam, and I am the chairman of this exquisite committee. My tasks is by far the easiest since I only give orders to my committee members and make an agenda once a week.

The program

Well, what do we organize then for you freshmen? First of all we need to make sure you’ll get enough to eat during this week. That’s why we arranged a lunch and diner in a restaurant for you on Monday, a BBQ on Tuesday, and we rented the Stairway to Heaven to have a nice last meal on Wednesday. Next we need to make sure you’ll get some exercise and therefore we arranged a nice sports afternoon with Olympos.

Since this is a introduction week for your study, you also must do some studying yourself. On Tuesday we organized a very difficult math test for you, Wednesday you have a Freshmen College and on Friday you will have your first real lectures.

Furthermore we will show you around in Utrecht and make sure you’ll get to know all the nice bars and important places. But most importantly are of course the parties!! Every night there will be enough freshmen and coaches to join for a good party in the city. We will start on Monday with drinks in the Nieuwe Dikke Dries, and on Tuesday with a pub crawl. If you still like to party some more after these activities we will make sure everybody knows which club to go to. Then Wednesday is our closing party at Club Lux. We have rented the whole place and we will make sure that we finish the introduction week in style!
